Perfect day for a Picnic

Summer is closing in

Pacer got home from work and I surprised him with a picnic lunch packed and ready to go. We loaded up the bikes and went for a ride. We wanted to find a quiet, private place to just get away from everything. We laid out the blanket and just relaxed. It was such a beautiful day. We enjoyed it for sure.
the food was super yummy too.

Super Saturday

Super duper day

We woke to a beautiful Saturday morning. I love the Oregon weather. You never know what the weather will be like from day to day. So when you wake to a sunny day you take advantage of it.
We jumped on our bikes and headed for the Lowe's to buy our garden. We spent the rest of the morning planting and cleaning the backyard. Then we showered and got all spiffied up and headed to Portland. At Pacer's work they had reached a milestone and had a company dinner at the ClaimJumpers.
Pacer had to show off and eat the largest plate of meat on the menu. And he did, ate every bit of it. I couldn't eat more than one fish stick from my fish and chips. Which by the way were delicious!
Afterwards we headed off to downtown Portland for the Starlight parade.

Portland was lit up

The Starlight Parade

I love living in Oregon. There are so many cool things to do here. I mean within an hours drive we can go to the beach, the mountains, the city, the high desert. It's so incredible. I always forget about the cool events that happen all over the state during the spring and summer months. We have agriculture events from flower to fresh fruit and veggie festivals. We have town events from drag races to Renaissance faires. We have beach events from sand castles to kite competitions.
Portland is the city of Roses
So right now is the rose festival
We went to the starlight parade, which is really cool cause all the floats and the bands involved were colored in lights and glowing stuff. It was really fun.
We got there a bit early and wasn't able to find a street level view, there was so many people. I was watching the crowd and everyone was looking up towards one of the buildings, I thought it was a bit unusual. But then I moved closer and figured out what all the excitement was. Spiderman, (yup you read that right) Spiderman was on the roof of the building running away from security. As he disappeared around the side of the building we made our around the crowd and climbed 3 stories in the parking garage to our view of the parade.
